Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the role of amateur choral groups in the preservation and popularization of
folk song creativity of Ukraine. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive understanding of the role of
amateur choral groups as an important factor in the preservation and actualization of the folk song heritage of Ukraine
in modern socio-cultural conditions.
The methodological basis of the study is a complex of general scientific and special methods. In particular, a
systematic approach was applied – to consider the amateur choral group as a multifunctional socio-cultural
phenomenon;; musicological analysis – to study the repertoire and specifics of the interpretation of folk song works.
Conclusions. Amateur choral groups are an important component of the musical culture of Ukraine and perform
a complex of interrelated functions – artistic, social and cultural. They act as an effective means of preserving and
broadcasting folk song creativity, ensuring its continuity through performing practice, repertoire policy and
participation in the cultural life of society. The activities of amateur choirs contribute to the preservation of authentic
regional traditions, the popularization of folk songs and their adaptation to the modern cultural space through a
combination of authentic performance and professional arrangements. An important aspect is also their participation in
the festival movement and ceremonial events, which ensures the reproduction of the functional context of folk song
culture. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of using its results in the activities of leaders of
amateur choirs, teachers of artistic disciplines and organizers of cultural and artistic events in order to preserve and
popularize the folk song heritage of Ukraine.
