Purpose of the study. The study aims to conceptualize the specific features of preservation and dissemination of local musical cultures in the digital environment, taking into account the interaction between technological tools and the socio-cultural context of their functioning, as well as to identify approaches that enable a balance between accessibility of digital resources and the preservation of authenticity of musical practices.
Research methods. The research is based on an interdisciplinary analytical approach that combines theoretical generalization, conceptual analysis of key notions (locality, preservation, digitalization), and critical interpretation of contemporary scholarly discourse on digital cultural heritage. The study also applies a comparative and contextual analysis of scientific sources, focusing on technological, socio-cultural, and ethical dimensions of digital preservation and representation of musical traditions.
Results. The study clarifies the theoretical foundations for analyzing local musical cultures in the digital environment and demonstrates that digital technologies simultaneously expand access to musical heritage and transform its modes of existence, perception, and transmission. It identifies key risks, including loss of contextual depth, shifts in functions and meanings of traditional practices, and tensions between accessibility and authenticity. The paper substantiates strategies for dissemination that integrate technological capabilities of digital platforms with cultural sensitivity and active participation of tradition bearers. It also highlights the importance of open data, interoperability principles, and sustainable digital infrastructures while emphasizing the need to preserve the contextual and semantic integrity of musical heritage.
Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive and interdisciplinary interpretation of the processes of preservation and dissemination of local musical cultures in the digital age, with an emphasis on their interdependence with technological, cultural, and ethical factors. The study advances a context-oriented approach that reconceptualizes key categories such as locality, authenticity, and preservation under conditions of digital transformation, and substantiates the necessity of integrating technical solutions with culturally sensitive and participatory models of working with musical heritage.
